In less than a month, Pokémon fans will have Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! in their hands, and they are hyped. They may have even more reason to get even more hyped up soon.
In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Junichi Masuda, executive director of Game Freak, revealed that there could be another entry in the Let’s Go series if “everyone enjoys playing these games.” The sequel would pick up with the Johto region, which first debuted in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Presumably, a sequel would depend on both positive reviews from fans as well as good sales figures.
Masuda only laughed when Eurogamer asked about the next core Pokémon game, which is due for release sometime in 2019. So, for the time being, at least, fans will have to content themselves with the release of generation 4 Pokémon in Pokémon Go, and the Let’s Go games, which will be out on the Nintendo Switch starting November 2.
