What a world we live in! Once upon a time, the only shared thread between Power Ranger and Street Fighter was Brian Cranston had done voice work for American television adaptations of both. Now it seems Ryu and his other World Warrior chums have crossed into the Power Rangers cannon.
Presented by Qualcomm Snapdragon and G Fuel the gritty new short film promotes the 25th anniversary of the teenagers with attitude and Street Fighter character’s addition to the Power Ranger Legacy Wars already massive line up of selectable pugilists. This is no ordinary live action promo and if you are a fan of either Street Fighter or Power Rangers you will get a kick out of this!
Reprising their roles from Bat in the Sun Production’s previous Green Ranger VS RYU – Super Power Beat Down short film the Green Ranger and Ryu have joined been by Megaforce’s Yellow Ranger and Chun Li (make her a Ranger now please) to take down M. Bison’s latest nefarious scheme; which this time involves taking over the world by beating Ryu with Dark Power Rangers? It’ll all work out, in the end, I’m sure.
This is without a doubt the best looking on-screen realization of Street Fighter. Chun-Li’s Hyakuretsukyaku (Lightning Kicks) appears as though she has just burst out of an arcade cabinet! Seven minutes is not enough! This is the direction Power Rangers should be going! I could happily watch an entire series of Power Rangers that is nothing but absurd multiversal team-ups.
