In the latest episode of DC Daily, the rebranded DC videocast, the company officially confirmed rumors that James Gunn was on board to write Suicide Squad 2.
Gunn has recently been in the news following his dismissal from Disney as Guardians of the Galaxy writer due to some Tweets he posted almost a decade ago. While there were talks that Disney would backtrack on their decision, they stood firm refusing to get Gunn back on board.
Bad news for Guardians of the Galaxy fans, but good news for DC as they seem to have scooped Gunn up as the writer for the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel.
In the news segment of DC Daily, it was reported that Gunn has been added as a “new member of the DC family,” and will be on board specifically for Suicide Squad 2. Gunn is also reportedly “poised to bring a completely fresh take on the franchise after the first film was written and directed by David Ayer.”
This, of course, suggests that Gunn won’t be directing the sequel.
