Twentieth Century Fox has released the brand new trailer for James Cameron’s adaptation of the Japanese, Sci-Fi Manga classic series, Alita: Battle Angel. The action packed footage showcases a bit more story accompanied by some heavy fight scenes between Alita and the deadly cyborgs.
Alita (Rosa Salazar) is constructed back together by cybermedic Ido (Christoph Waltz) after finding her in the local garbage dump. When revived we learn she has lost all her memory, though soon after she begins to remember a single one, her signature fighting technique Panzer Kunst. She uses this against cyborg criminals who are sent to retrieve her by very powerful people in the world at this time. They know a lot more about Alita’s past from what she was to what she is to become and are willing to stop her at any cost.
Watch the new trailer below to learn more about the cyberpunk Manga:
Alita: Battle Angel is set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future where the world is divided from the people who live in the wore-down rubbles of the Scrapyard to the others who thrive in the gleaming, radiant city of Tiphare hovering above, think of it as the poor and rich districts massively segregated. Alita may be the only hope for the people of Scrapyard to bridge the gap, save them from certain death and lead them to a better life.
As a fan of the original, I am interested to see Hollywood’s take on the material and how faithful they have stuck to the source. I am NOT, however, hoping to see another Ghost In The Shell with the West’s take on it… I think we could all do without that!
I would recommend watching the original first and getting up to speed with this futuristic, action packed anime! It’s well worth the watch.
Alita: Battle Angel will arrive in UK cinemas February 6th, 2019.
