Netflix has just revealed the first look at Henry Cavill as The Witcher Geralt of Rivia. Back in September, his casting had been announced and now we can take a gander ourselves via a short costume and makeup test on Twitter.
Reactions to more recent casting rumors and announcements have been mixed, with many complaints addressing the liberties taken in light of some character descriptions found in the source material.
The new footage featuring Henry Cavill in costume proved controversial to say the least, as the unveiling sparked a fair amount of mocking and many unflattering comparisons, but that’s Twitter for you.

Personally, I think it looks great for a low budget student production and I’m excited to see the rest of the cast in action after months of waiting. All jokes aside, it is still very early on in the process and the series could turn out to be terrific.
In the meantime, we can all enjoy the polish TV series based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s books. If you can actually enjoy it.
