Disney’s live-action trailer for The Lion King has premiered to tremendous success after passing over 200 million views in the first 24 hours on YouTube.
I believe that purely based on one of Disney’s most, if not the most, beloved and classic tale of the 90’s animated movie, the intrigue and curiosity had piqued everyone’s interest and one of the main attributes to cause such a soar in YouTube’s viewing numbers.
From being the world smash hit that it was in 1994, garnering incredible accolades from Grammy’s to Academy Awards and profiting over $950 million dollars at the box office, it should come as no surprise that the new live-action trailer was incredibly successful and second only to Avengers: Infinity War trailer release day.
The teaser trailer really showed off all the right moments copying from the original iconic introduction to the Grammy award-winning soundtrack that pulled on the nostalgia and heartstrings of people watching everywhere. Seeing Simba being held up in the air atop Pride Rock by Rafiki, with every animal gathered around in live action, showed off the impressive CGI and incredibly long hard work put into this new version.
The Lion King will be released in cinemas July 19, 2019. Get ready to re-live the tale of the king.
