Nickelodeon is set to air a SpongeBob Squarepants marathon to honor the show’s late creator, Stephen Hillenburg.
fan account NickAndMore, reported that Nickelodeon will be airing a marathon of Spongebob Squarepants For over 8 hours on Sunday, December 2. The marathon is expected to begin with the very first episode of the show at 12 pm EST, before running a selection of classic episodes.

ComicBook.com reached out Nickelodeon who confirmed the marathon will indeed be taking place on December 2.
Stephen Hillenburg sadly passed away this month after his battle with Motor Neurone Disease, otherwise known as ALS. He was aged just 57.
“We are incredibly saddened by the news that Steve Hillenburg has passed away following a battle with ALS,” Nickelodeon said in their statement regarding Hillenburg’s passing. “He was a beloved friend and long-time creative partner to everyone at Nickelodeon, and our hearts go out to his entire family. Steve imbued SpongeBob SquarePants with a unique sense of humor and innocence that has brought joy to generations of kids and families everywhere. His utterly original characters and the world of Bikini Bottom will long stand as a reminder of the value of optimism, friendship and the limitless power of imagination.”
Nickelodeon’s Spongebob Squarepants Marathon will begin at 12 pm EST on December 2.
