Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold over 17 million units in its first couple of weeks on sale, outselling the first game’s lifetime sales.
It should come as no surprise to anyone unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few months, that Red Dead Redemption 2 has performed incredibly well. Whether it be through the great reviews it has been receiving or the sheer, vast amount of content to do in the game that has kept people entertained for days, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a smash hit!
Take-Two have proudly announced in their Q2 report this year that Red Dead Redemption 2 has shipped over 17 million units worldwide. On top of the fact that we already know the game had sold over $725 million in opening sales on the first weekend of its release, we now see just how in demand the product was and how Rockstar has clearly distributed more than enough to stop shortages and leave no store un-stocked!
We are also informed that GTA 5 has now shipped over 100 million units from it’s 95 million in May. This goes to show how GTA 5 is still bringing in steady earnings for Take-Two and how the game is still holding up well over time. It’s other franchises, mainly sports such as the NBA series, are still performing well and see an increase in growth due to recurrent spending.
I’m sure with Christmas around the corner that Take-Two and Rockstar will continue to be raking in the cash due to the game being one of the must-have gifts from ol’ St. Nick!
Whilst most will be celebrating the snow, there will no doubt be gamers around the world who will be locked in their homes next to a warm fire and racking up endless hours in the wild west! Myself included! Happy riding to ya’ll!
