EA has announced via Twitter that they’ll be giving a free update for Star Wars Battlefront 2 next week which will include adding one new hero and one new villain, in addition to gaining a new map in the process too. Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi will be joining the battlefield along with his rival Episode III villain, General Grievous.
In addition to the two heroes joining the roster, they’ll be bringing along a classic map for them to fight it out on in the form of the bug ridden, desert wasteland, Geonosis. Whether you enjoyed the prequels or not, there is no doubt among many fans that the spectacle of the Geonosis war was one to behold and we can now reprise those epic moments eviscerating droids and gunning down clone troopers amidst the devastating chaos between the factions.
It’s unfortunate that Star Wars Battlefront 2 turned out the way it did. I feel if EA had already given all of these updates in the full game at launch, not had the loot box/progression system and added in Galactic Conquest mode then we might have had a decent Star Wars game to play from the beginning. Well, as long as they’ve learned their lesson now, right EA? We’ll be watching you.

You can read about our Star Wars Battlefront 2 review here and see our thoughts on its disastrous PR, clunky gameplay and lack of depth when it came to the single and multi-player aspects on a whole. At least, for those still playing Star Wars Battlefront 2, they can now take a nostalgic trip with this added update of a new map and addition of characters.
