British actor Taron Egerton confirmed to many fans of the Kingsman franchise that he will not be reprising his role as ‘Eggsy’ in the next film.
Not down to any unwillingness to do so, I might add, as we hear through the rumor mill that original director Matthew Vaughn is back in the directing seat for this next movie which he has decided to based on the origins of the Kingsman corporation during WW1. Meaning that ‘Eggsy’ would not have been around at that time to reprise his role even if he wanted to.
Speaking to Yahoo news Egerton had this to say:
“I’m not in the next Kingsman movie. I don’t know if I’m allowed to tell you… That doesn’t mean I won’t be a Kingsman ever again. I was with Matthew Vaughn as little as a few days ago and spoke to him
“We’re very much still in business together, it’s just that his next journey in that universe doesn’t involve me. Which I think is sacrilegious!”
It’s not all bad news though, as if there are any future sequels set back in the present day then I’m sure ‘Eggsy’ would be more than happy to come back for future installments giving his relationship with the director.
