After a good couple of weeks at the top of the UK Gaming Charts, Red Dead Redemption 2‘s reign has been thwarted by none other than Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
It’s actually a really interesting week for new releases as there are a total of six new entries in the UK Gaming Charts Top 10 this week. Interestingly, Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon: Let’s Go Eevee – if sales were bundled together – would have actually taken the top spot, but alas, that wasn’t the case.
Instead, Activision’s Spyro Reignited Trilogy took the top spot pushing Red Dead Redemption 2 down to second place. In third place is another new entry in the form of Fallout 76. While this multiplayer-focused title was expected to do a little poor compared to other releases in the series, the game actually saw an 82.4 percent drop compared to Fallout 4.
Following this we have our first of the two Pokémon: Let’s Go releases, Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu. Interestingly, the game’s performance in the UK could have gone a little better as it seems stock shortages affected the game’s launch. Not only that, but the push to digital may have also hindered the retail launch. Compared to the last major release, Pokémon X and Y, the game’s launch shows a decline of 5 percent – which isn’t all that bad.
Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee follows in sixth place, followed by another new entry in eighth place, Fortnite: Deep Freeze Bundle – the first ever retail release the popular free-to-play Battle Royale game, Fortnite. This, of course, packs not only the game but a bunch of in-game items, V-Bucks, and more.
Finally, the last new entry into the top 10 is Io Interactive and Warner Bros. release of Hitman 2. This title had a weaker than usual launch, with physical sales down 90 percent. However, this could be attributed to a number of things including digital sales (which aren’t counted) and the saturation of the video game market over the past couple of weeks.
With Red Dead Redemption 2, Spyro, Fallout 76, and much more, there’s a lot to play in such a short amount of time.
An honorable mention also goes to Civilization 6 which landed on Switch but failed to hit the top forty. It does, however, find its way to eighteenth place in the Switch charts.
