If you’re stuck for some ideas on what to christen your new console with, n3rdabl3 has you covered with this year’s hottest PlayStation 4 titles!

God of War

God of War took this year’s Game of the Year nod

It does go without saying that this year’s Game of the Year, God of War is top of our list; and with such a compelling storyline and timeless content, who could argue? Fans of single-player storytelling need look no further.

Our resident God of War guru, Mark, had this to say about the title in his 10/10 review. “God of War is one of the greatest games of this decade, if not of all time. It delivers on every front and makes you want more than what it’s 35-50 hour experience has to offer. With an unforgettable cast and story, to ridiculously fun and rewarding gameplay, this is a gaming experience players won’t soon forget!”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Experience new content first with PlayStation

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the latest entry into the illustrious franchise, and this title marks a bit of a milestone. Gone is the story mode. Music to the ears of some I’m sure. In its place is a pure focus on multiplayer.

The core Call of Duty multiplayer experience takes it’s latest form, building upon the tried and tested formula that has build the goliath franchise we know today. What’s really selling the game, however, is the title’s blackout mode.

Blackout hops on the Battle Royale bandwagon, bringing the current fad to the world of Call of Duty. 100 players, 1 winner. Simple right? Couple that with elements of the franchises best maps and you have a mode to remember. Even better? As a PlayStation 4 player, you’ll get all the newest content first. Take that Xbox!

GT Sport

GT Sport offers the best motorsports PlayStation has to offer

GT sport is PlayStation’s historic racer, and the latest entry into the franchise is a particularly good one. You might have caught some footage from the recent world finals, and the title really does offer some nice competitive racing.

If you’re after some more casual fun, that’s here in spades also. There’s a great deal to play with and with regular updates, you’re sure to get an experience that will grow with your console. Petrolhead at heart? GT Sport is the game for you!

Marvel’s Spider-Man – On Top of the World

Who doesn’t want to swing from the rooftops? Thankfully, Marvel’s Spider-Man is here to provide all of your web-slinging needs. This has been one of the most hotly-anticipated titles of the year, and thankfully, it did not disappoint.

Our resident spandex-warrior, Oliver, had the following to say in his 10/10 review: “Spider-Man is easily a candidate for Game of the Year, delivering on every front. Amazing gameplay with spectacular visuals along with fun but moving story writing. No game has captured the spirit of Spider-Man so completely.”

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Horizon: Zero Dawn is another timeless classic

Horizon: Zero Dawn released last year to high critical acclaim, bringing yet another gorgeous world to the PlayStation 4. The title follows Aloy, a hunter in a world overrun by machines, who sets out to uncover her past, in one of gaming’s strongest female-led titles.

Resident voice for all things great in the world, Gage, had the following to say in his 9.2/10 Review: “Horizon: Zero Dawn is the next big exclusive and Guerrilla Games really knocked it out of the park with this one. The gameplay and combat are on another level and the story delivers a dystopian story about wonder and mystery that pushes you to find out everything you can. Horizon Zero Dawn is a must play.”

There we have it. 5 incredible titles you can purchase for your PlayStation 4 right from the comfort of your living room, and have a brilliant time doing so. There really is something here for everyone, from incredible stories to clipping apexes, you’ll be spoilt for choice with your new Christmas acquisition.
