It’s a big day for Fortnite as Epic Games has announced the launch of Season 7 and an entirely new Battle Pass among other things, including Fortnite Creative, a new mode which launches today for Battle Pass owners.
Let’s kick off with Fortnite Creative, this is probably the biggest addition to Fortnite in that this mode allows players to essentially host private games of Fortnite within their own private islands. Think of it similar to Minecraft in that players can design their own maps and games within those maps.
Right now, Fortnite Creative is available to Battle Pass owners with a general release expected on December 12. More details and an example of some of the possibilities can be found in the below video:
There’s plenty in store for Fortnite Creative, and Epic Games are aware that there may be some teething issues. However, this is just the start and the developer plans to add more features to Creative in the coming months turning this into its own game mode like Battle Royale and Save the World. Additional Creative details can be found over on the game’s website.
Following this, Epic Games has today unveiled Fortnite Season 7 which sees Fortnite Battle Royale‘s map being smashed into by a mysterious iceberg which, of course, brings Snow to Fortnite. Other changes include the addition of Ziplines which allow players to get to and from high terrain faster.
New locations include Frosty Flights and Expedition outposts which are home to planes. That’s right, PLANES. Players can hop in a Stormwing plane and take to the skies to find even more locations, or simply zip from one side of the map to the other. Planes are available to fly solo, or with a partner in crime.
An overview trailer can be seen below:
There’s also a new Battle Pass, which, not only grants players access to Fortnite Creative but also 100 new items as they progress through the ranks. Another video can be found below showing an overview of some of the frosty skins available.
The Battle Pass also comes with Wraps, a new feature which allows players to customize their weapons and vehicles.
Finally, old Save the World is getting the conclusion of the Stand and Fight campaign, with the launch of Canny Valley Act 3. Act 3 will include new quests, new areas to explore, and a Mythic reward.
I guess it’s something, right? More details and the full patch notes can be found over on the game’s website.
Epic Games is also planning some sort of Fortnite announcement at The Video Game Awards which takes place this evening, so stay tuned for that.
