academy awards oscars

The Oscars (also know as the Academy Awards) are 91 next year, and it has been revealed that actor and comedian Kevin Hart will be hosting!

Taking to Instagram and Twitter earlier this week the personality not only made the announcement but shared some almost heartwarming words, “I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time…”

For years I have been asked if I would ever Host the Oscars and my answer was always the same…I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it’s suppose to. I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars. I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time….To be able to join the legendary list of host that have graced that stage is unbelievable. I know my mom is smiling from ear to ear right now. I want to thank my family/friends/fans for supporting me & riding with me all this time….I will be sure to make this years Oscars a special one. I appreciate the @TheAcademy for the opportunity ….now it’s time to rise to the occasion #Oscars

Hart will be a departure from the last two years which were hosted by comedian and television host, Jimmy Kimmel — an arguably seasoned telecast pro. For many, the Oscars are a highlight of the glittering award season and it appears Hart is aware of this enormous pressure as he promises to make “this years Oscars a special one.”, and understands that “now it’s the time to rise to the occasion #Oscars”.

Although this a time for excitement for Hart, we are interested to see what develops in the coming months for quite such a controversial figure. The 91st annual Academy Awards are set to take place on Monday, 25 February 2019 and will honor the best films of 2018. Stay tuned for the nominations to be announced.
