Square Enix has released the opening movie for Kingdom Hearts 3 which gives us our first look at the upcoming sequel as well as another chance to hear the new opening theme.

Who could forget “Simple and Clean” or “Sanctuary,” the opening themes for the first two Kingdom Hearts? Over the weekend we got to hear the next iconic Kingdom Hearts hit–“Face My Fears” by Utada Hikaru and Skrillex.

But we didn’t just get a catchy song! We got the opening movie trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 to go along with it, too! The trailer shows our protagonists as they are now, offering some brief references to major events in previous games in the series. Everything from the earliest cutscenes from the first game of Sora, Riku, and Kairi playing are touched upon to Sora and co. defeating the organization.

Although it may leave more questions than answers for newcomers of the series, for a trailer that’s under two minutes it doesn’t do a half-bad job of pulling all the most important events together and linking them logically.

But wait! As exciting as this is, we also learned that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be receiving six new trailers this month. That’s six additional trailers to the opening movie trailer!

The translation of the announcement tweets is more than a little spotty, but it appears that between December 17 and December 21, we should have the whole slew of them. Lord knows how Square Enix will try to top this promotional turnout in January, as the days count down to Kingdom Heart 3‘s actual release at the end of that month.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will be out on January 29, 2019, for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
