Red Dead Redemption 2 has scored the final number one before Christmas Day meaning the title has achieved the coveted award of Christmas Number One.
Here’s a surprise to literally no one. Rockstar’s latest release, Red Dead Redemption 2 has secured the last number one spot before December 25. This is Rockstar’s second Chrismas Number One following the 2002 release of Grand Theft Auto Vice City.
As for sales, with the run-up to Christmas coming ever quicker, sales rose 26 percent allowing the game to hold off stiff competition from FIFA 19 which lands in second place this week with a 45 percent sales increase.
Despite FIFA 19 missing out on Christmas Number One, it is well on the way to becoming 2018’s best-selling game – that is unless something happens within the next week to dramatically change that. Currently, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the runner-up.
Black Ops 4 is also in third place this week with a 27 percent rise in sales followed by Battlefield 5 which, thanks to some hefty discounts, has seen a rise in sales of 55 percent.
So to round off the week, here’s the full top-ten rundown:
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- FIFA 19
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
- Battlefield 5
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Spyro Reignited Trilogy
- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
- Forza Horizon 4
