According to reports, Tom Hanks is in early talks to star in Disney’s upcoming live-action Pinocchio remake as Geppetto, creator of the toy-turned real boy.
Hanks, who has had a pretty long history with Disney as the voice of Woody in Toy Story and of course, starring as Walt Disney himself in Saving Mr. Banks, wouldn’t necessarily be an unusual casting for Geppetto – though according to The Hollywood Reporter Hanks may have conflicting schedules so it may be worth taking this info with a pinch of salt.
That aside, the upcoming movie will be headed by Paddington filmmaker Paul King and will be the latest live-action adaptation to grace our screens.
This won’t be the only Pinocchio remake in the works, as Netflix is also working on their own stop-motion musical written and directed by Guillermo del Toro.
Speaking of live-action adaptations, The Lion King recently received its first trailer and saw over 200 million views in just a few days, and Mary Poppins Returns is set to also hit theatres this holiday season.
