Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam has arrived on the App Store following teases from the pro skater that he had a new game in the works.
Back in June, Tony Hawk revealed that he was working on a new game, a mobile game, and said that it “is on the right track” but didn’t go into too many details as so what this game might be. Now, we have some idea as a pre-registration listing for Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam has appeared on the App Store and Google Play.
Hawk is no stranger to mobile games having announced Tony Hawk’s Shred Session way back in 2014 – which never actually made it to full release. So hopefully this one is a little different.
What’s Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam about? Well, it seems to have quietly been added to the App Store as no official release has been pushed out, but it’s being published by Maple Media Holdings LLC, the same company behind mobile titles such as Drift Mania and Skateboard Party, among others.
As for the game’s description, Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam will feature a “Classic Career Mode” as well as “Global Skate Jam tournaments”. It’ll also apparently feature Street, Park, and Vert skate disciplines as well as “dozens” of Birdhouse – Tony Hawk’s company – skateboards to collect.
Finally, we can be assured that “Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam will set a new bar for authentic tricks, controls and music in a mobile skate game, thanks to Tony.”
Having previously been burned by the atrocity that was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, I really do hope Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam is something to look forward to, but I can’t help but worry that it’s going to be some crappy endless runner.
