Despite some impressive numbers from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate last week, it seems nothing can quite compete against Red Dead Redemption 2.
One week left until we find out who secures the Christmas Number One spot in the UK Gaming Charts, and it’s looking highly likely Rockstar’s latest Western romp, Red Dead Redemption 2 will be dominating the holiday season after knocking Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from the top spot.
Nintendo’s latest Smash Bros. title actually falls down to fourth place this week with a 52% fall in sales – which isn’t actually that bad for a single platform release.
The reason for the rise in sales for Red Dead Redemption 2 is pretty clear, it’s coming up to Christmas and this weekend likely saw plenty of shoppers hitting stores for this year’s biggest hitters. Others, of course, include FIFA 19, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Battlefield 5.
There were plenty of increased sales across the board, including for titles such as Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Forza Horizon 4, the latter of which rose to eighth place from seventeenth.
So with a clear battle for the top between four incredibly popular titles, two of which are usual suspects this time of year, who will get the coveted title of Christmas Number One?
