Venom Movie Still

In what definitely comes as no surprise (especially considering our article from a few weeks ago) Venom as been confirmed to be getting a sequel.

Speaking with Discussing Film, Jeff Pinkner, a screenwriter for Venom, was asked if fans of the film could expect a sequel. While he didn’t give away anything plot related (though, we know the villain is obviously going to be Carnage), he did confirm the film would be getting a follow-up.

“I can’t say anything other than that it is happening,” Pinkner revealed. When asked whether or not he was writing the sequel, he replied, “I am not. As of now, I am not.”

Obviously we were going to get a sequel based off the fact that Venom made bank at the box office, grossing more than $850 million worldwide, despite the fact it didn’t receive favourable reviews from critics and fans alike. While I enjoyed the film, I could envision a world where this was the only Venom movie we got.

We spoke about there being two films in the Sony Universe Of Marvel Characters – again, catchy name folks – being worked on and scheduled to come out in 2020, so with the confirmation of Venom 2, it’s a safe assumption that it’ll be out and about in 2020.
