The next entry into the Call of Duty franchise is being teased by Infinity Ward the developer next in line, and while it may seem like Ghosts 2, it’s definitely not.
The hints come via Ashton Williams, senior communications manager at Infinity Ward, who has been posting some images and videos featuring skulls and ghosts. Of course, that would lead you to naturally think Call of Duty: Ghost 2 was the next title for release.
Unfortunately, that’s not the case according to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier who, in response to a ResetEra thread, has debunked that this is indeed the case.
So it seems obvious that we’d move onto the next game from Infinity Ward which mentions ghosts, and that’s the Modern Warfare series where we were introduced to Simon “Ghost” Riley. Though many familiar with Modern Warfare 2 would know that a sequel starring “Ghost” couldn’t possibly happen, so maybe the next game is a prequel?

Interestingly, many staffers who worked at Infinity Ward during the early Modern Warfare years have returned to the studio after leaving for Respawn Entertainment, so maybe we could be seeing a return to form for the Call of Duty series.
I guess we’ll wait and see. This isn’t the first time Modern Warfare has been thrown around, as it was rumored to be the next game in the series back in May last year.
Alternatively, Williams could just be really into Halloween and is getting prepared for the next big day in October.
