Production is officially underway on another entry to the DC Cinematic Universe, as cameras have started rolling for Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). No, I still can’t get over that title either.

We know this as star Margot Robbie has taken to Instagram to share a snap of her in full costume as the titular Harleen Quinzel.

Whilst the picture doesn’t show too much, it does serve to confirm a few suspicions we held about the movie. Harley seems to be fully embracing her emancipation, with an even more colorful outfit than that seen during her debut outing in Suicide Squad, plus some accompanying pom-poms for good measure.

Margot’s caption is also very apt since her portrayal of the deranged psychologist was one of the few universally praised aspects of the 2016 feature. With the DC universe on something of a roll at the minute, thanks to Aquaman and the promising Shazam!, it would be fantastic to see Harley in a film of appropriate quality for such an iconic character. Yes, Ms. Quinn, we have certainly missed you.

Hopefully, there will soon be an official character line-up photo released by DC themselves. We are yet to see the likes of Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress or Ewan McGregor‘s villainous Black Mask, and trust me, those pics will really get the hype for this film started.

We still have a way to go before Bird of Prey launches on February 7, 2020, though, giving director Cathy Yan ample time to tease us about her R-rated “girl gang movie”.
