Mortal Kombat has had a long run of 26 years, and in that time it has had a lot of cameos. Everyone from Batman to the Predator has shown up to the competition. And now, fans are calling for Norville “Shaggy” Rogers from Scooby-Doo to join the fray in Mortal Kombat 11.
A petition on Change.org has been founded, touting Shaggy as a fighter players “most certainly need.” Comments hail Shaggy as the creator of the universe and the key to making “Mortal Kombat great again.”
Undoubtedly this piggybacks off of the Shaggy memes that have been around for a while, which gives screenshots from promotional interviews for the live-action Scooby-Doo movies new captions referring to Shaggy’s superhuman abilities. This then evolved into Shaggy fighting Goku and Thanos among others, and even feeding off of dinosaurs. Recently the memes have exploded into popularity across social media.

Although the memes are pretty good, Shaggy would definitely make an interesting addition to Mortal Kombat 11, and fans have almost reached the goal of 150,000 signatures, it probably wouldn’t do you any good to hold your breath for this one.
It would probably be a nightmare to implement for legal and branding reasons (Scooby-Doo is about as family-friendly as you can get), and the founders of the petition, Woken News, doesn’t exactly have clout needed to really push this change. Their only other petition ever attempted proposes to replace Smokey the Bear with Pedo Bear, with a whopping six signatures.
