Following on from Mortal Kombat 11‘s night of reveals event, we have a concrete clear answer from Ronda Rousey as she puts rumors to bed about her voicing Sonya Blade.
She couldn’t have been clearer when she walked out on the main stage during the live stream event and announced the official reveal trailer of Sonya Blade and taking on the role of the militant badass.
During the reveal trailer Ronda tells the audience how she has always dreamed of voicing this strong female character and her many fond memories of playing Mortal Kombat as a child. Sonya delivers her signature moves, as well as showcasing a newly added move incorporated by Ronda in her routines by pinning them down and gripping the opponents arm and fully pulling back, making for many bone cracking sensations and satisfying crunches.
The audience sounds off it’s momentous applauds to the visual spectacle of skull cracking moments and a very inventive fatality involving resistance to gravity and a helicopter… I’ll let you watch the trailer to find out why!
At first, I was a bit hesitant to hear of Ronda Rousey taking on the voice acting role of Sonya Blade, but from what I’m hearing of the trailer, she actually does a very good job of voicing the character. She doesn’t sound much different to the previous voice actress, and she seems to have a decent range going from a normal speaking voice to a more grunty, shouty take when needed with Sonya. Maybe she’s found her new calling??
Mortal Kombat 11 will release on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch & PC on April 23, 2019.
