Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is an upcoming fighting game from nWay which could be the Power Rangers fighting game we’ve been waiting for, for a long time.
Interestingly, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid was announced at the same time as another well-known fighting game, which is a pretty bold move. But seeing as the fighting game community was active, maybe nWay wanted to seize the day?
Well, actually… no. Turns out the game’s trailer was actually leaked a week ahead of schedule forcing the developer to announce the game early. Either way, it doesn’t matter. We finally have a decent looking Power Rangers fighting game on the way, and we’re pretty excited.
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is being “made from the ground up” according to the developer in an interview with DualShockers and won’t be some cheap mobile port. Some tech is being brought over from the mobile game Legacy Wars, I might add, but nevertheless, it seems nWay is definitely focused on making this an actually good console fighter.
It seems players will be able to duke it out as many Rangers from the long-running series which is definitely a plus – though we’re unsure whether we’ll be able to battle Megazords too. It’s set to launch this April for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Players who pre-order the game will receive an exclusive Green Ranger V2 Skin, this suggests that maybe the base-color Rangers will be available with skins which can either be unlocked or purchased. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
