Netflix is developing a TV series based off of the very popular Resident Evil franchise according to a report from Deadline.

According to the report, production company, Constantin Film, who has worked previously on the Resident Evil films are now looking to make a Netflix series. This wouldn’t be attached to the previous films however as the company wants to develop a completely original series with the streaming giant.

I guess that probably means no more Milla Jovovich running around everywhere killing zombies and then gaining weird telepathic powers which… yeah I’m gonna stop there, just nope… that franchise went so far south after the first and second movie.

The report also reveals that this new series will cover the inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the terrifying release of the T-virus. So I guess we can expect to see plenty of references to the video game, maybe this could be the answer to the correction of those previous Resident Evil films!

The Netflix series is still waiting on a show-runner and is in the very early stages of development so expect to see this TV adaptation appear next year I would imagine.

Meanwhile, the Resident Evil 2 Remake is out now so I guess everyone will be playing it to their heart’s content and reliving fond memories of the 90’s glory days, what better day for this news to arrive!

Let us know what you think of this development in the comments below and if you see this TV series succeeding or ending up being a flop like a few of the previous films before!
