Following a pretty quiet week, FIFA 19 has been knocked off of the top spot thanks to the release of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe which has bounced its way into first place.
Nintendo is continuing their effort of bringing gems from the Wii U over to the Nintendo Switch with the launch of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, a game that’s a mouthful as much as it is a chart-topping title. This puts the title up there with the likes of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Tennis Aces, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – the only Switch games to score number one in the UK Gaming Charts.
According to Chart-Track, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has outperformed the game’s original release with sales up 24.8% over its predecessor.
This puts chart-topping mainstays, FIFA 19 and Red Dead Redemption 2 down to second and third respectively with both titles seeing a drop of over 50% in sales. As for the remaining charts, much like last week, they remain largely unchanged.
GTA 5 has managed to claw its way back to the top ten, for some bizarre reason, once again sitting comfortably in eighth place.
Of course, the first half of January is always pretty quiet, but with Ace Combat 7, Resident Evil 7, and Kingdom Hearts 3 coming up, the end of the month may see some interesting shifts in the UK Gaming Charts.
