Syfy is looking to reboot the iconic 60/70s TV-show, Banana Splits, but not how some of us may remember… It’s becoming a horror.
Hanna Barbera’s live-action kid’s TV show from the 60/70s will be thrust into the 21st Century thanks to SyFy who has revealed plans to remake the iconic show as a modern-day horror. It seems something goes awry during a taping of Banana Splits and well… “things take an unexpected turn — and the body count quickly rises,” according to the movie’s description. “Can Harley, his mom and their new pals safely escape?”
Here’s the full synopsis:
“In the upcoming horror thriller, a boy named Harley and his family (brother Austin, mother Beth, and father Mitch) attend a taping of The Banana Splits TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley and business as usual for Rebecca, the producer of the series. But things take an unexpected turn — and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom and their new pals safely escape?”
The movie is of course set to see the return of the Banana Splits, the titular rock band featuring Bingo, Fleegle, Snorky, and Drooper. How they’ll be involved in the horror story is unknown. Here’s hoping they don’t go all Friday Night at Freddy’s, eh?
