During Activision’s earnings call this week, the company confirmed that this year’s entry into the Call of Duty franchise will contain a single player campaign.

Last years Call of Duty release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, was the first main entry into the franchise which ditched the single-player experience to focus on multiplayer, zombies, and of course Blackout. This left many wondering whether the future of Call of Duty would also be without a campaign of sorts seeing how the developers always seem to follow trends.

Fortunately, though it seems like that’s not the case. During Activision’s earnings call this week Activision President, Rob Kostich, said:

“This fall’s [Call of Duty] launch I think is going to resonate very powerfully with our community. It is an amazing game. It’s going to feature an entirely new campaign, a huge and expansive multiplayer world and of course some fun co-op gameplay. But from day one, we’re going to be really excited, every time we’ve shown this title internally it’s just created a ton of buzz.”

This year’s Call of Duty is being developed by Infinity Ward, and rumors suggest it could be another entry into the Modern Warfare series. There’s no doubt however that Activision is excited about this upcoming entry. But we’ll have to wait and see what it is, exactly.
