The DC UNIVERSE streaming service has just released a new trailer for the world’s most Dysfunctional Super-Hero Team Doom Patrol.
Doom Patrol is an organization with a shifting line up made up of super freaks. The one consistent member has always been former racing driver Robotman (Cliff Steele played by Brendan Fraser), whose metal body is often destroyed along with the rest of his team and replaced just as promptly.
The announcement of the dream casting line up is nothing short of amazing! Negative Man (played by Matt Bomer), Elasti-Woman (played by April Bowlby), Crazy Jane (played by Diane Guerrero), their ambiguous leader Dr. Niles Caulder (played by Timothy Dalton), and for the first time in Doom Patrol history they will not be joined by Beast-Boy (who is currently busy with the Titans) instead they are getting Cyborg (Joivan Wade).
Most excitingly of all is the announcement of the Dadaist villain Mr. Nobody played by Alan Tudyk! The team’s current line up is made up of members from throughout the entirety of Doom Patrol’s many publications.
With an unusual, retro tone this feels more like a freaky live-action Venture Brothers than anything resembling the Dark Knight or Smallville. So far the released materials seem to perfectly capture the twisted tone of Doom Patrol.
If they can keep this up and follow almost any of the comic book storylines, Doom Patrol will almost certainly be more unique and exciting than anything we have seen in the DCTVU* so far and is sure to be one to watch out for!
Doom Patrol is launching Stateside February 15, 2019, only on the streaming service DC UNIVERSE. Check out the trailer below and stay tuned to n3rdabl3 for your comic book, TV and video game news, reviews and rumors.
