Team Cherry, the creators of one of the greatest Metroidvania’s of our time, has announced a sequel to that beloved title, Hollow Knight. Hollow Knight: Silksong is the next installment within the Hollow Knight universe, and will be dropping on PC, and exclusively on the Nintendo Switch!
Initially intended as a DLC for Hollow Knight, Silksong quickly matured into its own standalone title. This time, however, we get to play as Hornet! For those that need a refresher, Hornet was one of Hollow Knight’s recurring boss fights and one that probably led some to embed their controller into a wall. The game will include new locations, new bosses, over 150 new enemies, and much, MUCH more.
A release date has yet to be announced, but seeing as this was initially a Kickstarter goal back in 2014, it is probably safe to assume a majority of this new installment is already finished. Hornet is intended to be more “fluid” than our previous protagonist, which is apparent from the announcement trailer. Another interesting point is the transition from decent to ascension. Where Hollow Knight had players diving ever deeper into the bowels of Hollownest, Silksong will see Hornet ascending a haunted, new kingdom with the peak or “Crown” as it’s being referred to, as the end goal of the game.
While details are sparse at the moment, Team Cherry released a details video going into a bit more depth about what we can expect in this exciting new sequel. You can find that, and the announcement for Hollow Knight: Silksong trailer below!
