Dune is one of the biggest science fiction series out there, so it’s not surprising that a new movie based on it is in production. And Jason Momoa is hot off his role as Aquaman, so it’s not much of a surprise that he would have been snatched for the role of secondary character Duncan Idaho.

Momoa joins stars such as Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: Episode VIII–The Last Jedi) and Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War), among others. The whole cast has not been announced yet.

Dune is set in the far future on a distant planet almost totally covered in desert. Main character Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) finds himself on the planet Arrakis after his father (Oscar Isaac) is moved there for political reasons. Political intrigue tangles with fantasy and sci-fi elements as well as a deep cultural study of life on such a planet.

Momoa’s character, Duncan Idaho, is a swordmaster noted for both his physical abilities and physical attractiveness, which makes Momoa seem like the perfect choice.

Dune is due out on November 20, 2020, so you have plenty of time to hit the books before you buy your tickets.
