Capcom keeps marching on to show just how successful their 23-year long franchise is with the Resident Evil 2 Remake already selling 4 million units.
This landmark is another spectacular achievement for the survival/horror series as during its original run, Resident Evil 2 sold over 6 million units. That means upping sales by 50% will put them on par, despite there being a 21-year advantage to the older version.
Since its release on January 29, 2019, Resident Evil 2 Remake has outsold a fair portion of its siblings. RE: Revelations and Revelations 2 sold an average of 2.5 million each. RE 3 sold just short of 4 million and RE:Code Veronica fell a little shy of the 3 million mark.
Despite besting a good portion of its siblings, if it wants to be the number one of the series then its got a long way to go as Resident Evil 5 stills in gold position with over 12 million units sold, and Resident Evil 6 selling 10 million.
Not only has this remake being one of the best selling games in the franchise, but it also helped Capcom reach another milestone with the series. With the total combined sales of Resident Evil as a whole have now surpassed 90 million. Hats off to Capcom for their years of perseverance and campy storytelling.
Have you returned to Raccoon City since the end of January? Are you building up the courage to relive the nightmare? Me? Oh, I’m just broke, I can’t afford it.
