According to reports, sources within the company say that Capcom may be setting its eyes on Resident Evil 3 for the remake treatment.
The recently released Resident Evil 2 remake has been a breath of fresh air for both admirers of the horror genre and the Resident Evil series as a whole and it seems that the fan service may not end there. According to Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, producer of the Resident Evil 2 remake, he has recently stated that:
“the reason why [Resident Evil 2] became a remake was because the fans continued to send a love call saying ‘I want you to make a remake’ for 21 years. If I hear that [there’s as much demand for Resident Evil 3], I think that will be the starting point for us”.
Hirabayashi is clearly suggesting that Capcom will move forward with an update for Jill Valentine’s adventure if they feel that fan interests in the project are sufficient.
This news also comes on the heels of leaks from a Twitter user and supposed insider, EvilVR – which should be taken with a huge pinch of salt – that Resident Evil 8 is in development but will not be released prior to a Resident Evil 3 remake. It seems that we won’t have to wait very long to return to Raccoon city after all.
