Summer in Mara, an island adventure game, has made over $100,000 over its Kickstarter goal $22,753 thanks to its 4,459 backers. At the moment of this writing, $123,948 has been raised.
The game has been described as a combination of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Stardew Valley. A young girl named Koa lives on her own on her home island, but she has a boat to explore the ocean (known as Mara) around her. The game also has Koa care for her island, farming the land, caring for animals, and crafting the tools she needs for a successful life.
Thanks to all the money that has been raised, several new features have been unlocked, like new characters, minigames, and an animated opening sequence. Thanks to the backers, there will even be an Xbox One version!
However, there are still modes to be unlocked, such as animal breeding, a photo mode, and a visual novel version for iOS and Android devices. Seeing as there is still a week left for the Kickstarter, it seems more than likely that a few of these additional features will make the game.
If you’re interested in the game, you check out more details and donate on its Kickstarter page here. Benefits from donation are expected to arrive sometime in September 2019, so it seems safe to assume the game itself will arrive around that time. It will make it to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and onto Steam.
