With the launch of Kingdom Hearts 3 last week it comes as no surprise that the title has stormed into first place in this week’s UK Gaming Charts.
We’ve been waiting for a new Kingdom Hearts title for a long time and finally, it’s here. Kingdom Hearts 3 launched last Tuesday and has become one of the most successful launches for the series in the UK. Sales are more than double that of Kingdom Hearts 2 which launched 14 years ago.
The third installment is also more popular than several of the games’ spin-off titles and re-released and bundled “remixes” – which comes as no surprise.
An interesting thing of note is that Kingdom Hearts 3’s physical sales – which is only counted by Chart-Track right now, outperforms its predecessors which at the time weren’t available digitally. That would suggest that with both physical and digital sales combined the game performed insanely well.
Another little unsurprising fact is that PS4 sales accounted for 82 percent of sales. This is likely due to the game’s long-running history as a PlayStation exclusive.
As for the remaining charts, Resident Evil 2 falls to second place, followed by the usual suspects, Red Dead Redemption 2 in third, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in fourth, and FIFA 19 in fifth place.
The only other new release was Dragons: Dawn of New Rider which landed in thirty-seventh place.
