Curve Digital and Fallen Tree Games have announced their latest title, American Fugitive, an action open-world sandbox game that’s like a modern classic GTA game.
American Fugitive looks like what you’d get if GTA 2 was made in 2019. Featuring a pretty interesting top-down, isometric 3D camera aesthetic and a seemingly constant wanted level, players are tasked with booking it out of prison after being framed for their father’s murder, doing what they can in this unique sandbox world to escape.
All we need now is a killer soundtrack and it’s already well on the way to be a classic, at least in my eyes. I get some real classic vibes from this game, but perhaps that’s the 1980s setting…
This new title comes from Fallen Tree Games, a studio made up of AAA developers who previously worked on titles such as TimeSplitters, Crysis, and Goldeneye 007: Reloaded. With American Fugitive, they’re hoping to redefine the sandbox genre.
In the game, players will be able to do whatever they can to survive, whether that’s to take on the life of crime and rob houses and cars to get armed and fend off the police, or to just keep running – through that probably won’t help.

American Fugitive launches on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2019.
