A lot of big publishers and developers are expressing their interest in porting current and upcoming games to the Nintendo Switch these days, which might be a good move considering the ever growing market share Nintendo’s newest console is gaining. Even Devil May Cry 5‘s masterminds are chiming in.
Capcom seems to be pushing their efforts regarding the Switch harder and harder, with upcoming ports of classic Resident Evil series entries and Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, but apparently they still need to grow more confident for Devil May Cry 5 to be ported over.
The game’s director Hideaki Itsuno recently dropped some info in an interview with the German gaming magazine M!, stating that if sales of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be high enough, the possibility of a Switch port for the latest Devil May Cry could be considered. If you’re not one of those German speaking people (Guten Tag!) just throw that second paragraph into your online translator of choice.
Of course, this is all very vague and a cynic might interpret it as a ransom statement. Considering the 32 million strong install base after two years, I wonder why a Switch port needs to be considered that hard and isn’t just as cut and dried as with the other platforms, but I ain’t good with no numbers, no siree.
With that in mind I’m split between wanting to pick up Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen even more now or less than before. How about you?
