The line up for EVO 2019 has been unveiled and while Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has made the cut, a certain other Smash Bros. title has not…

For those of you who are still clinging hard to your CRT TVs you might want to look away, as for the first time in six years, Super Smash Bros. Melee won’t be on the main stage at EVO 2019.

Of course, this decision wasn’t made lightly, and to honor the game that’s been a staple title at fighting tournaments for almost 20 years, the organizers released a little thank you video in memory of the fighting game:

As for the title’s that will be on the main stage, Smash Bros. Ultimate, of course, takes the Smash crown and Mortal Kombat 11 will also be making an appearance. Here’s the full lineup:

  • BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ
  • Mortal Kombat 11
  • Samurai Shodown
  • Soulcalibur 6
  • Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Tekken 7
  • Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]

EVO 2019 is set to take place during August 2 through to August 4 and will be live streamed over on the EVO Twitch channel.
