The Nintendo Switch is a pretty special console. It somehow walks the line between being ideal for Nintendo’s finest and most inventive, powerful flagship titles, as well as a premiere device for showcasing the finest and most original indie games available on the market.
As this selection continues to grow, it’s always interesting to see which names rise to become the most popular. Sure, the trending pages on the eShop help, but which titles are the best-selling of all time?! Well, wonder no longer, as Nintendo has released a list featuring the 10 indie games that have shifted the most units on the system to date.
Here we go:
- Stardew Valley
- Hollow Knight
- Overcooked 2
- Dead Cells
- Enter the Gungeon
- Graceful Explosion Machine
- Golf Story
Okay, so you still have to wonder a bit, as Nintendo haven’t announced the exact numbers or order of this list, but still, it’s pretty neat.
Half of the list have broken onto the scene within the last year (Hollow Knight, Overcooked 2, Undertale, Dead Cells and Graceful Explosion Machine to be precise), which serves as a testament to the growing indie scene on the console.
The biggest name to drop out of the top ten is definitely Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, but this is probably due to a delayed release after the game’s initial success across other platforms. I’m sure his inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will make up for this absence though.
Who knows how this list will look come this time next year, but as the marketplace becomes more competitive and more excellent titles spring up, we as the audience are the real winners here.
