The latest rumor on the next Call of Duty title, which itself is rumored to be Modern Warfare 4, is that it won’t have specialists and will be ditching Blackout.

In 2019 it seems that the tour de force which is the Battle Royale is everywhere. Ever since the likes of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite popularized the genre there seemed to be no stopping the influx of entrants to see who the last one standing will be.

Take this unstoppable force and mix it with another powerhouse like the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise and you may just have a juggernaut in gaming. Though the rumors surrounding Activision’s long-running series claim the opposite.

Sources over at Gaming INTEL are in fact claiming that the acclaimed franchise won’t be receiving the same treatment as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Instead, according to another rumor, Activision is planning to spin-off Blackout into its own separate entity and will even go free-to-play.

Also with a lack of Battle Royale may just mean that Modern Warfare 4 will be opting for a Single Player campaign once again. Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode was met with mixed responses from the moment it was announced, though this didn’t stop the game from being a success.

Adding to this, Infinity Ward is supposedly ditching Specialist classes, this means that we could see a return to the old ways when it comes to Multiplayer customization. Therefore allowing you to create fully customizable classes like its predecessors.

I personally believe that these rumors will come to fruition. Especially as seeing that many rumors that come out regarding the property of such a large company have seen the light of day. This could be from disgruntled employees or those wishing to show off what they have at the time. Either that or it’s just a brilliant move by their marketing department to generate hype.

Other rumors surrounding the latest installment are the return of the Spec Ops mode from previous Modern Warfare titles as well as fan favorite Multiplayer maps making a return. Again, this is all just speculation and we won’t know anything for definite until the big dogs say it publicly.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Image

Would you prefer the to see a Battle Royale mode instead of a Campaign? Or are you like me and glad to see that the over saturation of Battle Royale isn’t seeing yet another case of copy/paste and going back to being not quite as cool as Captain Price? #SoapAndGhostDeservedBetter
