Netflix is set to bring back The Baby-Sitters Club with a 10-part series based on the book series by Ann M. Martin, the company has revealed.
The live-action series, much like the books and the 1995 movie, will follow the friendship and babysitting adventures of friends in Stoneybrook, CT, and will explore the group’s ventures, friendships, and struggles as they grow their babysitting business and fend off competitors.
The series is set to be produced by Walden Media (The Chronicles of Narnia) and producer Michael De Luca (Escape at Dannemora) as exec producer, alongside Lucy Kitada. Rachel Shukert (Glow) will be showrunner, with Lucia Aniello (Broad City) will direct and exec produce.
“I’m amazed that there are so many passionate fans of The Baby-Sitters Club after all these years,” Martin said, “and I’m honored to continue to hear from readers — now grown, who have become writers, editors, teachers, librarians, filmmakers — who say that they see a reflection of themselves in the characters of Kristy and her friends. So I’m very excited about the forthcoming series on Netflix, which I hope will inspire a new generation of readers and leaders everywhere.”
There are currently no details on when the show will land on Netflix.
