Square Enix has unveiled a new Octopath Traveler title coming to mobile which acts as a prequel to the critically acclaimed Switch title.
Following Square Enix trademarking the term HD-2D, many suspected that the developer wasn’t done with Octopath Traveler’s unique art style, and they weren’t wrong. Square has announced that a new game will be coming to mobile, set on the continent of Orsetera, and will be a prequel to Octopath.
A Japanese trailer for the game has been unveiled too, which you can see below. There’s currently no word on whether the game is strictly for the Japanese market, or whether the prequel will be coming to the west:
In addition, Octopath Traveler fans will be pleased to know that Square is also working on another Octopath title, while details are thin, the official Twitter account followed up this prequel news saying:
“For those of you waiting for a new console game, we apologize, but we’ll need more time for production, so in the meantime we hope you’ll enjoy this.”
Whether or not this is the new Bravely game which has been teased or a new Octopath title, remains to be seen. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
