Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene has today announced that he’s stepping away from development of PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) to work on a new project.
Greene revealed on Twitter that he’s making the movie from Seoul to Amsterdam to another division of PUBG Corp. called PUBG Special Projects. Here he’ll begin work on a new secret project.
“The past five years of my life has been all about battle royale. From the early days working on a mod to getting the chance to create my vision for a battle royale title, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” he said.
“It’s been an incredible journey and our game has reached heights I never thought possible. Seeing the game grow into what it is today has been a dream come true and I can’t thank our fans and the incredible team at PUBG Corporation enough.”
He goes on to add that from today is new “day-to-day focus will be heading up a new division of PUBG Corp.: PUBG Special Projects.” He’ll also continue as a “consulting creative director” on PUBG.

PUBG has of course gone from strength to strength, beginning as a mod to then blow up as much as it did and spawned an entire genre out of what is essentially a game mode.
