A new gameplay overview trailer has dropped for the upcoming From Software game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice; and if our previous coverage of this game hasn’t gotten the point across yet, this video certainly should. You will need to utilize everything this game gives you if you have any hope of coming out victorious.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice takes place at the end of the Sengoku period, an age in feudal Japan wrought with war and suffering. A young boy, a lone “wolf”, is taken in by a man called “The Owl” and shown the ways of the mystic shinobi. This lone wolf grows into our main Protagonist, Sekiro, and it soon falls on him to save the young king.
Sekiro loses an arm and it is replaced with a prosthetic one that becomes a focal point for the game’s numerous skills and abilities. This arm allows him to deploy various weapons on the fly and acts as his personal Swiss army knife, letting you adapt him to whatever threats come your way. The arm also offers another important utility that plays more into traversal, the grapple hook. This new tool adds verticality to the game that no other From game has seen before and uses it to an impressive extent.
The 5-minute video re-iterates the importance of utilizing these tools, along with some others, in order to progress through the game. It flat out states that every encounter is unique and it will come down to you to figure out what tools work for which enemies. From previous videos, it’s clear that From Software has created one of their hardest titles to date, and this is clearly their way of trying to prepare players for the inevitable frustration that will surely come from it. Like all other Souls-like titles though, there are patterns to learn and techniques to master that will surely make the game more enjoyable than not.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is mere days away from release! So, be sure to check out this video below, and get those fingers flexing with other souls-borne titles in preparation for a game that will surely test your skills to the fullest.
