FromSoftware has released the Launch Trailer for their new IP, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and if this doesn’t leave you salivating, wanting more, you probably shouldn’t buy this game.

Holy shit, this game looks incredible. FromSoftware has a great track record of delivering fantastic games, with incredible creatures to fight and from the looks of this trailer, Sekiro is no different. From a gigantic bull with a flaming hay bail on its head to a pissed off Albino Harambe, Sekiro will clearly offer some extremely versatile encounters. The trailer also shows off another unique quality that makes Sekiro stand alone among the “souls-borne” comparisons; abilities, and from the looks of things, there will be plenty of those to collect and use. Personally, I want that shadow teleport one, but all of them look incredibly fun.

The trailer also shows off its strong emphasis on dialogue and story, something From Software has left up to the players in their other titles. It’s refreshing, in my opinion, to see a studio like From step up and show that they can tell a well-crafted tale just like anyone else. Yes, there will still be item lore bits to seek out, but it’s clear that this game will have a much stronger focus on physically telling a story instead of leaving it up to us to draw our own conclusions.

Lastly, in case you haven’t figured this out from all the recently released gameplay videos circulating around YouTube, the game will require players to parry above all else. This is a crucial dividing factor for those still comparing Sekiro to the Souls-borne games of old. Where previous games left this mechanic as an option, this game clearly wants you to utilize this feature if you have any hopes of progressing through the game. If you think I’m wrong, just watch the trailer below and see all the sparks fly for yourself.
