On Wednesday, Paramount Pictures’ UK branch uploaded the “True Horror” Pet Sematary featurette to YouTube. The featurette is exactly a minute long and doesn’t necessarily give the viewers anything new visually to tease them with. However, for those of you late to the party, it gives a brief background on the story itself.
Directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch fill viewers in on the fact that the book the movie is based on are considered Stephen King’s “most terrifying” (even King considers it his scariest novel). Jason Clarke (Louis Creed) commends King for his story, claiming it delves deeper into what “real horror” is. John Lithgow (Jud) adds that everyone has people that they feel they cannot live without–and questions what lengths one would go to bring them back. This, of course, is the linchpin of the whole story.
Some of these comments take place over clips from the upcoming film, though, as was said earlier, it’s mostly footage we’ve seen before, with the exception of what is basically a confirmation of a major character’s death and a sliver of that aftermath.
You may watch the featurette below, though we’d recommend avoiding it if you’re trying to avoid major spoilers:
Pet Sematary will be out in theatres on April 4.
