Developer Frogwares have had to delay their upcoming horror detective game, The Sinking City, to a new release date of June 27, 2019.
Based upon the incredibly well known Lovecraft series by American, horror fiction author H.P. Lovecraft, developer Frogwares lets you become private investigator Charles W. Reed to investigate the strange occurrences happening around New England in the flooded town of Oakmont, Massachusetts.
After the developer went quiet around December, fans were unsure that the game would see its release date of March 21, 2019, and now we finally have a definitive answer through a steady flow of updates as well as a helpful video update as to why the delay was caused.
The Sinking City is an open world adventure RPG, taking from the ideas and tone of H.P. Lovecraft’s novels of horror and all manner of things disturbing. The game is more based on the detective features rather than full out action as seen by the trailer below. It perfectly fits the idea of reaching into the darkest depths of your mind to solve the mystery of The Sinking City and what horrors it holds for players.
You’ll need to be of a sane mind to traverse through this fragmented town and help the people in it to discover the mystery surrounding the area, a perfect tribute to Lovecraft and the right way to make a game based on the author’s famous novels.
