Devil May Cry 5 has styled its way into first place this week, pushing last week’s number one, Anthem, all the way down to fourth place.
Unsurprisingly, Capcom’s latest title has become another winner for the Japanese publisher shooting straight to the top of the UK Gaming Charts. Yep, the long-awaited Devil May Cry 5 launched, and has instantly shot to the top of the charts. This is Capcom’s second number one of the year, after Resident Evil 2.
Devil May Cry 5 also managed to match the launch of DmC: Devil May Cry back in 2013 with sales being almost identical. Though again, this just accounts physical sales, not digital.
This means last week’s number one title, Anthem, has unsurprisingly lost its reign at the top slipping down to fourth place having been outsold by Red Dead Redemption 2 and surprisingly, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. That’s right, Nintendo’s kart racer, which is actually a re-release of the Wii U game of the same name, performed better than Anthem. That’s a yikes from me.
The charts actually saw a number of shifts, with The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame falling to seventh place, and Dirt Rally 2.0 falling from sixth to twenty-first place. Trials Rising: Gold Edition also takes a hit falling from tenth to twenty-seventh.
The only other new release to enter the top forty was Square Enix’ Left Alive which lands in thirty-ninth place.
Here’s the full top ten run down:
- Devil May Cry 5
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- FIFA 19
- Far Cry: New Dawn
- The LEGO Movie 2: Videogame
- Super Smash Bros Ultimate
- Metro Exodus
- Grand Theft Auto V
