Apex Legends’ latest patch was a little rocky, with the servers needing to be taken down to fix a game breaking bug. It turns out, this wasn’t the only mistake, as a “quitter penalty” was pushed live early.
In the latest patch, players were noticing a five-minute timeout if they quit games mid-match three times or more. It turns out, this wasn’t supposed to go live with the latest patch but is something the team over at Respawn has been working on internally. The team took to Reddit to address the situation:
“So internally, we have been working on and testing this feature but it wasn’t our intention or plan to have it go live with the update that went out today. There was a piece of script that was missing and caused the leaving match early penalty to be turned on when it shouldn’t be. That’s why it wasn’t in the patch notes.”
The situation has now been rectified, with the addition being removed on all platforms. The feature is set to come to the title after some more internal testing, but Respawn does not have an ETA for the feature.
